FUN AT NESS!

In April I was privileged to have two pieces of work displayed at an exhibition of textile art, which took place in the gallery at Ness Botanic Gardens.  The exhibition marked the 25th Anniversary of the
Computer Textile Design Group, which sadly has now disbanded.

Below is a pic I took of the gallery, a wonderful setting, with a good variety of interesting  pieces on display.

I love colourful fruit, and one of my pieces created with Photoshop Elements, is based on the Pitaya or Dragon Fruit below, and uses techniques including 'layers', 'selections', 'gradients' and various distortion filters.

The finished piece below, is printed onto 'Ink Aid' treated calico, and enhanced with machine stitch and couched threads.

'Enter the Dragon' AD 2012

Below are a couple of details from it.

My second piece was inspired by ideas that came from a CTDG workshop back in 2009.

Three photo images were combined to form the design, each layer being worked separately using transparency effects, blend modes and texture filters in
Paint Shop Pro.

                                     'Arches of Time' AD 2012

The piece is ink jet printed onto pre prepared cotton and stitched onto a vilene backing using machine and some hand stitching

FESTIVE FUN ( better late than never ! )

Hi.  It's been ages since I posted anything here, so I thought I would make a fresh start.

Last November I learned to make birds with Angie Hughes, and had fun creating some weird and wonderful species just in time for Christmas!

I gave the little chap below to my Mum.  Next time I saw him he had acquired a hat and beard!
